To install the correct driver, you must know the operating system you have and whether it is a 32 or 64 bit operating system. To do this, Left-click on the "Start Menu", then RIGHT-click on "Computer", then RIGHT-click on "Properties". You can now see what your system preferences are as shown below:

Windows7 or Windows Vista: (see below for Windows xp)
1. Make sure the tablet is powered OFF. You can double check this by quick-pressing the "Power" button to see if the tablet is powered on.
2. Press and HOLD the "Return/Home" button on the tablet, and while still holding the button down, connect the tablet to the computer using the included USB cable.
3. Once connected, the Computer will show the message (or similar) "Installing device driver software".
4. The following pop-up message will appear: (this is because you have to direct the computer to the Recovery Driver for the Device).

5. Click "Close".
6. Now Left-click the "Start menu", then RIGHT-click on "Computer", the following screen will appear:

7. Click "Manage", the following screen (or similar) will appear:

8. Click on "Device Manager", the following screen will appear:
9. RIGHT-click on "Unknown Device" , then choose "update driver" from the pop-up window that appears. The following window will appear:
10. Click on "Browse My Computer for Driver Software", the following screen will appear:
11. Click "Browse" and search the desktop (or wherever you saved the PMID 4300 Firmware Update Folder to) for the PMID4300 Firmware Update folder.
12. Expand the "Driver" Folder. It should look like the figure below.
For 64-Bit computers Choose "281X driver", then choose "AMD64", then choose your operating system.
For 32-Bit Computers choose "X86" then choose your operating system.13. Click "OK", then click "Next", the following screen will appear:
14. Click "Iinstall".
15. The driver has now been installed and you should see the following message:
15. Click "Close".
Windows XP
1. Make sure the tablet is powered OFF. You can double check this by quick-pressing the "Power" button to see if the tablet is powered on.
2. Press and HOLD the "Menu" button on the tablet, and while still holding the button down, connect the tablet to the computer using the included USB cable.
3. Once connected, the computer will launch the "Welcome to the new hardware wizard" , the following screen will appear:
4. Select "No Not this Time" then Click "Next", the following screen will appear:
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location , then click "Next" . The following screen will appear:
6. Click on "Search for the best driver in these locations" , then check the box that says "include this location in the search", then select "Browse". The following screen will appear:
7. Select "Desktop" , then expand "PMID4300 Firmware Update", then expand "Driver" and select "xp" Then Click "OK". The following screen will appear again:
8. Click "Next". Your computer will start installing the correct driver and the following screen will appear:
9. Click "Finish".
Step 3 Intalling the Firmware file
1. Go to your computer's Desktop (or wherever you saved the folder to), and open the folder named "PMID4300 Firmware Update". The following screen will appear:
2. Open the application named "RK28BatchUpgrade.exe". The following screen will appear:
3. Click on the "Image" button to search for the firmware file. The following screen will appear:
4. Use the "Look In" dropdown window to search for the file named "PMID4300-firmware_2.2" . This will be in the folder titled "PMID4300 Firmware Update" which you previously saved to your desktop. The following screen will appear:
NOTE: Device Upgrade Area box 1 should be GREEN at this point. If it is PINK, please do the following, otherwise proceed to step 5:
If Device Area Upgrade box 1 is PINK, click on “Switch”, and it will turn GREEN
.
5. Click “Upgrade”. The firmware is now being installed. The Device Area Box 1 will be YELLOW during the upgrade process and turn pink when finished. The upgrade process is still not finished at this point. It is very important that DO NOT remove the tablet from the computer until you have finished step 6 below.
6. Once the Device Upgrade Area box 1 has turned pink, you are almost finished. Click “Exit” but be sure NOT to disconnect the tablet from the computer yet. The firmware will be loading onto the tablet at this point. When the tablet powers back on, and you see the Polaroid logo on the tablet screen, you can disconnect it from the computer at this point. You are now finished with the firmware upgrade.
